Ricemobile, methinks . Don't know how I'd ever use something like this...

thanks.. its HL1

I just tested the model and it isn't scaled correctly, to scale it.. open it in Jed's hlmv and scale it to 1.2, then save the model.

a> not a ricemobile, 4.3L V6 is not rice or related to rice
b> horrible graphics and paintjob, try making a couple variations or something
c> rims look kinda of lame
d> what about a stock version, normal rims/tires, normal suspension, normal paintjob?
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-25 00:51:16 UTC Post #176590
Okay, I'll admit I know little or nothing about cars, but it kind of LOOKS like a ricemobile, for lack of a better term. I don't think you could drive something like this around without somebody laughing at you.
d> what about a stock version, normal rims/tires, normal suspension, normal paintjob?
Now that's something I could use!

:

Hey Pepper, I need your help.. How do you get the windows slightly transparent through Milkshape? I know theres the material diffuse and others but they don't seem to work.

I agree, that looks quite awful.

The Black Mesa SUV was modeled after a 90s Ford Explorer. The Blazer is just an S-10 with a cap basically. Why the hell is the logo there? It should be on the front doors!
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-26 12:35:19 UTC Post #176842
Headcrab, thats something you'll have to take up with The Martyr Machine from H.I.T. Forums. I'll be releasing a new version soon of a non-custom jeep. :)

and really, does it matter if its a 90s Ford Explorer, or a Blazer? :D

Heres the new version pic:

Right now I'm making a chrome model that will be a seperate model.. it will go over the truck model in the game with additive settings set, to give it a sort of reflection.

XD AWSOME!

I need this for my mod! ... a lot of people need this for stuff.
Your should do a BM truck and car, maybe even an 18-wheeler.

I'd pitch in the effort.

Should I wait until there all done to release?

No, release them one by one please :)
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-26 15:41:06 UTC Post #176879
Hmm, i think you'd need to make a 2nd model with the windows and then give that material a slight opacity, otherwise it isnt possible.

Nice. Good replacement for the brush car. Don't like the older skin though.

Wouldn't it be great if it would be drivable, like the tank in gunman.

wow, thats really nice! Looks like source. How many poly's did you say it was?

it's 1786 Poly's
:)

Ok, I started on another, this ones a BMW, so far I don't got much done.. in a week it should be ready to skin however. :)

Your doing fine there!

Mind you though, keep the poly's low for HL. I wouldnt say more then 1000 a car + 500 for a reflective map.

You got the transparancy worked out?

are you going to draw a skin for this one yourself?
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-27 11:29:42 UTC Post #177013
Well, I stayed up all last night and worked on it, and the poly's are up to 3500... so right now, I'm just getting rid of unnessessary vertices and poly's.
Transparency, yea.. If I ever make transparency on a model, it will be seperate.

And, yep, I'll be doing the skin once I UVmap it. :D

Good work! I guess a BMW would make an alright car for a Black Mesa theme. Or, to make things a little more fitting, have an Explorer and like a Taurus or something. Nobody likes to mix n match lol.

Hydeph.. for F@#K sakes bud! I don't care about the old suv and what it was modelled after! Next thing your going to be telling me that the beemer I'm making should be a ford explorer! And the logo is on the front doors! :D
Or are you still talking about this one?
http://img270.imageshack.us/img270/5213/bodyres3er.png
Because I never made that skin.. And the Blazer is NOT a S10! It's a Chevy Blazer! To end this, here take a look at my blueprint I got online:
User posted image
:D

Now, Headcrab.. I was thinking on the lines as just random vehicles.. ex.
Blazer: Barney "Finish
BMW: Gman "In production"
Gordon "car yet to be chosen"
Scientist "car yet to be chosen"
Then there will be the prop vehicles which are yet to be decided. :D

Wanna make a little competion out of this Unb?

i decided to model a low poly Ford Sierra, inspired by your attempts at car modeling and my desire to model something.
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-27 16:25:47 UTC Post #177046
Okay bud, wasn't trying to piss you off none the less say wrongful thigns about a Blazer and an S-10. I was merely saying that (in the REAL world) the Chevy Blazer is basically the same thing as an S-10 pickup truck... Anyway, I think ur models are good and I have a few ideas for vehicles. I see now that you are just aiming randomly so here goes:

Gordon - Honda Civic Hatchback / VW Golf / Jetta
Barney - Dodge Ram / Ford F-150 / Explorer
Scientist - Mercedes Benz / BMW M3 / Audi A4

Just some ideas...
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-27 16:33:53 UTC Post #177050
Alright Killa, sounds good. I think I will do that..
but what about barney.. I got the blazer, you think I should make another truck for him?
BTW, I was'nt pissed off at you.. I thought Hydeph was repeating himself.. lol. So if anyone it should be me apologising to everyone whom I offended. :

Pepper: I'm a bit busy at the moment.. perhaps after the Beemer's done. :)

Alright!

Just keep going, car modeling is by some considered the hardest part of modeling, mainly because so many different techniques come together and need to be creatively used by the designer :) .
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-27 20:16:03 UTC Post #177111
Nah, the Blazer's absolutely fine for a security guard. Those vehicles I listed are just what I thought about when I thought of Black Mesa personnel. You already got an SUV so I'd say keep going on what you're working on. Your models look great so I wouldn't get too side-tracked on what make or model they are. Just keep up the good work!
Posted 18 years ago2006-04-27 21:01:23 UTC Post #177118
Ford Sierra? Maybe that's a UK model.

My name is HYDEPH. Not Hypdeph, or hydepth, HYDEPH.

Headcrab means the Blazer/Jimmy/S-10/Sonoma are all based on the same platform, with similar bodystyles.

Romka also modlled a Viper RT-10 with Gordon driving it, so I doubt he'd resort to a Honda Civic. :P

The original one was modelled off a 1990 Ford Cherokee, which is what the military/government tends to utilize. They still have a lot in civil service here, and they use them at Area 51.

The new model still looks pretty good, I think, though.

Nope, cannot seem to picture Gordon driving a sports car for some reason. He seems more like the quiet type who keeps to himself so I doubt he would want to drive an attention-getting vehicle. Because of his anti-socialism, I see him driving your basic, everyday hatchback or sedan. The Viper looks real good tho.

Yeah, he truly looks like that. The weird thing is how within one moment he takes a gun and start killing everybody. :P

A hole in their story, but thats the whole idea! A geek with two guns.

Ok, heres the beemer so far. When I first completed it, it was near 4000 Poly's. So I did MultiRes on it to reduce the poly's.. that got it down to 2800 Poly's... And now it's finally under 2000!
User posted image
So I'm trying to get the poly's as low as I can, so I can add the wheels. But if it doesn't turn out.. I will have to include a number of different wheel models.. which I think is a good idea.. it gives you diversity. For example.. you will be able to have the beemer with stock tires.. or if you want, you can have it lowered and with low profiles. What do you guys think?

Nice, but there's a lot of unnecesary poly's on that car. The form is quite alright though.
