i don't know what you mean with that but i'll descriph step for step what i;ve done, first i get my image, opened it with vtf edit, i maked a vtf file and a vmt file in: steam_steamapps_acc_counterstrike source_cstrike_materials_vgui_logos_"mapname":

when i browse for textures with hammer my textures are displaying fine, but whenever i make a block where ever i want the texture i only see black and no texture,

Woah woah woah...You're missing some steps here...

1. You make the texture or find one...
2. You then use this VTFedit and make a vtf file in this directory:

C:program filesValveSteamSteamAppshabboicounter-strike sourcecstrikematerials

You can put them in seprate folders so:

C:program filesValveSteamSteamAppshabboicounter-strike sourcecstrikematerialsmytexture

3. You then make a .vmt, open in notepad and put this in:

"LightmappedGeneric"
{ "$basetexture" "yourfoldername/yourtexname" }

An example is:

"LightmappedGeneric"
{ "$basetexture" "mytexture/brickwall1" }

Then copy the vtf and vmt and place here as well:

C:program filesValveSteamSteamAppshabboisourcesdk_contentcstrikematerialsrc

If you made a folder then just copy the folder there.

And it will work...One folder for Hammer to find it and one folder for CSS to find it.
